Partner Roy Kaufman, acting as local counsel in Supreme Court, Suffolk County with the assistance of Appellate Counsel Jim Tuffin – of counsel to the firm – received a defense verdict on behalf of their client after a two-week trial. Their client was a General Surgeon who faced an allegation that he negligently treated a 37-year-old woman who presented with imaging findings suggestive of a possible bowel obstruction. Plaintiffs’ counsel asked the jury for $10 million for his client (and demanded $10 million settle), who faces a lifetime of daily TPN feedings. The jury deliberated for less than 90 minutes).
