Partner Bruin Hays secured a defense verdict on behalf of two vascular surgeons after a trial in Kings County. The plaintiff alleged that a venous stent was unnecessarily placed which led to a thrombotic reaction that required a hospital admission for thrombolysis. After the second thrombolysis, plaintiff had a bleeding stroke which left him disabled. The plaintiff then required an above the knee amputation of the same leg. The trial lasted four weeks, and in his summation, the plaintiff asked for $23 million. The jury returned a defense verdict.
